Farrelly Honored for Excellence in Educational Leadership

TARBORO, NC – John Farrelly, Superintendent of Edgecombe County Public Schools, was recently awarded a 2016 Excellence in Educational Leadership Award by the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA), a consortium of higher education institutions committed to advancing the preparation and practice of educational leaders for the benefit of schools and children.

The faculty of North Carolina State University’s College of Education nominated Farrelly for the award, which recognizes the generous and varied professional contributions of practicing school administrators to the improvement and support of school administration preparation programs.

The award was presented at the June Edgecombe County Board of Education meeting by Dr. Lesley Wirt, Associate Director of North Carolina State University’s Northeast Leadership Academy.

The winners will appear in the next issue of the UCEA Review, a newsletter that reaches educators all over the world. He has also been invited to join other UCEA award winners at this year’s National Convention in Detroit where he will be acknowledged at UCEA’s awards luncheon.
