"Mr. Batts has been an exceptional instructional leader at two of our traditional high schools. I am looking forward to the leadership he will provide our high school principals as well as the value he will add to our district team,” said ECPS Superintendent John Farrelly.
Batts attended East Carolina University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education specializing in English and History. He also earned a Master of School Administration degree and licensure certifications from East Carolina University.
Prior to joining ECPS, he was a middle school teacher in Wilson County, where he was recognized as his school’s Teacher of the Year in 2008. He also previously served as an assistant principal and interim principal with Nash Rocky Mount Public Schools.
