O'Neal was recognized for leading recovery and support efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Matthew.
"She made contact with many community organizations in an effort to collect bookbags, supplies, uniforms and household items for our students and their families," said Amy Pearce, South Edgecombe Principal.
"She also organized an Adopt-a-Teacher Program for the students at Princeville Elementary School. Her work led to all teachers being adopted and provided with necessary supplies to create a welcoming home for students who returned to school following the flooding."
"Ms. O'Neal is a model of servant leadership," added Pearce.
