Porter named ECPS Beginning Teacher of the Year

According to G.W. Bulluck Principal Hillary Boutwell, Porter is dedicated to the school and displays a strong sense of personal commitment to the students and community.

“Her impact sends ripples to every corner of our school. She has touched students and teachers in ways that change us personally and professionally,” said Boutwell.

“Ms. Porter is a teacher dedicated to helping students, and differentiating to meet individual needs is a fundamental part of her educational paradigm. She consistently provides opportunities for students to develop a personal connection and love of learning,” added Boutwell.

ECPS strives to provide comprehensive support to its beginning teachers. This includes direct support at the school-level with a site-based mentor as well as a district mentor. Beginning teachers also actively participate in regularly scheduled “Teacher Talk” sessions, which provide additional training relevant to beginning teachers throughout the school year.

“The district highly values beginning teachers and the role they play in educating our students,” said Kelly Jones, ECPS Coordinator of Teacher Support Programs.
