Edgecombe County Public Schools requires that all applicants have completed high school either through receipt of a traditional high school diploma or through completion of a GED program. Certain classified positions require additional schooling, training, licenses, etc. They are:
Teacher Assistant - To be eligible for a teacher assistant position, an applicant must have completed a minimum of 48 semester hours of college level credits or a 2-year degree. This became a requirement with the No Child Left Behind Act.
Office Support - Certain office support/secretarial positions require a minimum number of college level courses. The number required differs for different levels.
Maintenance & Transportation - Many maintenance and transportation positions require specific license for certain aspects of their position (ex: Pesticide license, electrical license, CDL, etc.)
Requirements are determined for new classified positions as the positions are created. All vacancy announcements posted include position-specific requirements and duties/responsibilities.
All school-level classified positions (with the exception of office support) must be willing and able to obtain a bus driver license.
