Through funding from Todd Gurley and his “In Life Make a Difference Every Day” organization, along with Malcolm Mitchell’s Share the Magic Foundation, every student received a copy of Mitchell’s children’s book, “The Magician’s Hat” along with a backpack, sponsored by Sprayground Backpacks.
The highlight of the event was a read aloud session by Gurley, Mitchell, and former Tarboro Viking football star, Tyquan Lewis. The rally also featured a special magic show with a live magician.
“I am so excited to be team up with my friend Todd Gurley once again,” said Mitchell. “Todd is a true champion of youth literacy. His passion for motivating kids to read is inspiring; and we are excited to have the opportunity to bring my Read with Malcolm Reading Rally program to his hometown.”
