This event challenges students based on their detailed knowledge of more than two dozen books. Every team competed against other ECPS middle school teams in ten-question rounds, with points accumulating to determine the winner.
Members of the winning team were Lana Harrell, Ava Bancroft, John Lawrence, Nathan Colon, Addison Calhoun, Raekiya Foreman, and Ventura Sanchez Cruz. They were coached by Natalie Shearin.
The Rotary Club of Tarboro sponsored the event.
Teams from Coker-Wimberly, G.W. Bulluck, Martin Millennium Academy, Princeville, and Stocks also participated.
The G.W. Carver team will represent the county at the Regional Battle of the Books competition on April 4, 2020.
