Lois Glass named ECPS Principal of the Year

"We are proud of Mrs. Glass’s hard work and dedication to Stocks Elementary School, our students, staff, and our community,” said Dr. Valerie Bridges, ECPS Superintendent. “She is a veteran educator, a graduate of Edgecombe County Public Schools, and an excellent selection to represent us as Principal of the Year.”

Principals are judged on many criteria. Each is expected to merit the respect and admiration of students, teachers, and other professional coworkers, parents, and members of his or her community. Involvement in the community, as well as in school activities, also is considered. Candidates are expected to provide opportunities for academic achievement to a diverse student population.

Glass was chosen by a community panel of stakeholders and will now represent Edgecombe County Public Schools in regional competition with hopes of becoming the Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year.

“As a native of Edgecombe County, I am truly honored to be selected as the county's Principal of the year. As an educator, it has always been my goal to instill a love of learning in students. In today's competitive society, it is essential for students to receive a quality education as well as have someone who is aware of and sensitive to their individual needs. I strive to be that very person,” said Glass.

“I would like to thank my family, friends and colleagues for their continued support throughout the years. A heartfelt thanks to Superintendent Bridges and the school board for entrusting me to lead the students and staff at Stocks Elementary School,” Glass added.
