Bridges selected as NCSSA Leadership Award Recipient

The North Carolina School Superintendents' Association (NCSSA) has announced the selection of Dr. Valerie H. Bridges, superintendent of Edgecombe County Public Schools, as the recipient of the Dr. Brad Sneeden Leadership Award. The award is presented in honor and recognition of a superintendent who has demonstrated a strong commitment to life-long learning, unwavering integrity in leadership and transformation of vision into action.

Swanson named Assistant Superintendent

The Edgecombe County Board of Education has named Erin Swanson as the Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Strategic Planning. Previously, Swanson served as the Director of Innovation for Edgecombe County Public Schools. She also served as founding principal of Martin Millennium Academy, Edgecombe County's first K-8 global school with a leadership focus.

Edgecombe County Public Schools Offer Summer Meals for Kids and Teens at No Cost

As the pandemic has amplified the economic needs of families, Edgecombe County Public Schools (ECPS) and the Food Bank of Eastern & Central NC have partnered to continue providing healthy meals all summer-long to ALL children ages 18 and younger through the federal Summer Nutrition Programs. A huge boost to the local economy, the summer meal programs could bring close to $1M in funding to the county from the US Department of Agriculture.
