Update - October 26, 2020

As we prepare for many of our elementary students to return to school for in-person instruction on November 5th, we have several important updates to share.

Meal Delivery Changes

The week of 10/26 - 10/30 is the last week that meals will be delivered on Wednesdays and Fridays. Beginning November 2nd, meals will be delivered using school buses once per week on Mondays.  Curbside pick-up will also be available on Mondays. Virtual learners will receive a hot lunch, as well as shelf-stable items for the remainder of the school week. In-person students will be fed breakfast and lunch each day at school Tuesday through Friday. Mondays will be deep cleaning days with no students on campus, so face-to-face learners will receive a hot lunch only from the meal delivery service on Mondays. On Fridays, beginning November 6th, weekend meals can be picked up curbside between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at South Edgecombe Middle School, Phillips Middle School, Pattillo Middle School, North Edgecombe High School, SouthWest Edgecombe High School, and Tarboro High School.

Elementary Teacher Planning Days/Remote Learning Days

In order for our elementary teachers to have adequate planning time to prepare for the return of students, there will be no live instruction for elementary students beginning this Thursday, October 29th continuing through Wednesday, November 4th. Elementary students will have assignments to work on independently during these workdays and attendance will be taken. Again, this is for elementary students only and will not affect the schedule for middle and high school students. PreK students will continue to attend school on their regular schedule during the workdays. Any elementary students who have been coming to campus, your principal will reach out to you with instructions for the teacher workdays.

Uniform Policy Waived for 2020-2021 school year

Finally, schools with uniform policies will have that requirement waived for the remainder of the  school year. Elementary students attending school for in-person learning will not be required to wear school uniforms, but must adhere to the district’s dress code policy.
