It’s North Carolina Crunch Time!!!!!!!
On Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at noon, Edgecombe County Public Schools will be joining schools, preschools, colleges and individuals across the state of North Carolina in celebrating National Farm to School Month by crunching into a locally grown apple in celebration of the North Carolina Crunch at NOON local time!
Edgecombe County Public School’s North Carolina Crunch event will include the “North Carolina Crunch” at noon with all thirteen cafeterias participating. Students will “CRUNCH” into North Carolina apples from Henderson County. Other activities will include a coloring contest, a visit from the North Carolina Farm to School mascots and “Fruitsie Tootsie”. In addition, a local farmer will conduct a taste test of delicious cucumbers at Princeville Elementary School. These cumbers were grown on his farm.
This collective crunch encourages healthy eating and supports Farm to School and local food initiatives throughout the state of North Carolina. It’s also a fun way to connect food and agriculture to all kinds of classroom curriculum from school gardens to art.
