This event challenges students based on their detailed knowledge of more than two dozen books. Every team competed against other ECPS elementary school teams in ten-question rounds, with points accumulating to determine the winner.
Members of the winning team were Savannah Babb, McKenna Branch, Mallory Bryant, Lilly Chafin, Kaylee Farmer, Cloey Garris, Emma Kate Harrelson, Ainsley Hodge, Isaac Hudson, Jaileea Knight, Haley Odham, Annalise Potter and Lena Roberts. They were coached by Brandy Chappell and Carrie Lyon.
The Tarboro Rotary Club provided trophies for the winning team, as well as medallions for all participants.
Elementary teams from G.W. Bulluck, G.W. Carver, Coker-Wimberly, Stocks, and Princeville also participated.
The Martin Millennium Academy team will represent the county at the Regional Elementary Battle of the Books competition on April 28, 2017, at G.W. Bulluck Elementary School.
