Nomination Categories Nominations are invited in the following categories for candidates whose credentials place them in exceptional standing among their peers.

Nomination Descriptions:

Teacher Assistant of the Year (3 Finalists) - awarded to a teacher assistant who goes above and beyond, has an impeccable work ethic, is a vital member of the school community and has a positive impact on students, coworkers and/or parents.

 

Certified Employee of the Year (5 Finalists) – awarded to a certified employee (EC program specialist, curriculum/technology facilitator, counselor, nurse, psychologist, social worker, speech pathologist) who goes above and beyond, has an impeccable work ethic, is a vital member of the school community and has a positive impact on students, coworkers and/or parents

 

Classified Employee of the Year (5 Finalists) – awarded to a classified employee (clerical, data manager, custodian, maintenance department, bookkeeper, child nutrition, technician, finance, transportation, network engineer) who goes above and beyond, has an impeccable work ethic, is a vital member of the school community and has a positive impact on students, coworkers and/or parents

 

Lifetime Achievement Award (3 Finalists) – awarded to an employee with 15+ years of experience whose career achievements represent a significant and influential body of work notable for its depth and breadth.

 

Classroom Teacher School Spirit Award (3 Finalists) - awarded to a teacher who is enthuastic about their students, school and district. They promote their school and the district as a variety of mediums.  This individual is a cheerleader for the entire school community. This award category includes teachers that teach students daily.

 

Cutting Edge Award (3 Finalists) - awarded to an employee that demonstrates cutting edge practices that enhance the learning experience for our students. This nominee values creativity, student agency, out of the box thinking that increases student engagement, rigor and relevance.

 

Assistant Principal of the Year Award (3 Finalists) - awarded to an assistant principal that goes above and beyond in their work as an leader at their school.

 

School of the Year Award (3 Finalists) - awarded to a school that goes beyond the the core mission and values that ECPS has set forth.

 

Superintendent Award - awarded to a central office administrator for their countless hours of dedication, commitment, and student focused contributions.  Award will be a nomination from the office of the Superintendent.

 

How to Nominate:

Please read the nomination form details carefully.  Fictitious names should be used in the paragraph nomination when you submit.

Important Dates & Information:

  • Schools/Individuals may nominate or be nominated in multiple categories.
  • Nominations will be accepted until MONDAY, MAY 13, 2019 at 5pm
  • All Finalists will be announced LIVE through ECPS email on Friday, May 17, 2019 4pm - Details to follow.
  • Pictures of all nominees will be taken Monday, May 20th & Tuesday, May 21st between 2:30- 5pm at 412 Pearl Street offices.
  • The Edge Awards will be a semi-formal ceremony.  Nominees should dress appropriately for the awards ceremony to be held at Keihin Auditorium on the campus of Edgecombe Community College on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 7pm.  All ECPS employees are encouraged to attend along with families and friends.
