NOTICE TO PARENTS OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

NOTICE TO PARENTS OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES.  Edgecombe County Public Schools has determined that all special education records for students who graduated or left the district in 2019 or earlier are no longer needed to provide educational services to students.  These records include those used to identify and accommodate children with disabilities, such as assessments, medical reports, IEPs, forms, multidisciplinary team reports, screenings, placements, referrals, parent consent forms, parent notification forms, and other relevant documents.

 In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, ECPS intends to destroy these records on or after November 14, 2025.  These records may be needed by the parent or child for social security benefits, legal defense, or other purposes.  If you would like to request a copy of these records prior to destruction, please contact Angel Walker at angelwalker@ecps.us or 252-641-2600.
